Let us also add, this website is not finished... it's built to adapt and change with your needs.
As many of you know, there is a lot going on in the Harley world. That's why we wanted to add some functionality to our website and build it so it could grow with us and more importantly your needs.
We've already added some new things, but we need your input. Let us know what you think, if you have technical issues or what you've always wanted to see on our website, please contact us here at webmaster@docsharleydavidson.com.
The following information details what we've already done and a few suggestions that we might entertain for the future. The rest is up to you...
6/17/10: Created an launched Doc's Photo Upload utility page located in the Contact Tab for customers to send us their Doc's memories and photos: http://www.docsharleydavidson.com/FileUpload/FileUpload.html
6/16/10: Launched Testimonials Page on the Main Menu to the left. COMING SOON: Customers will be able to access a web form to upload new testimonials of their own: http://www.docsharleydavidson.com/Testimonials/Testimonials.html
- Added Adobe Flash windows to most major pages at the top to allow users to see time critical events, offers and promotions in one place so you don't miss anything (These windows should be good back 3 versions of flash, if you can't see them, you might consider upgrading your version of Flash here.
- Made the format of the website 1,000 pixels wide instead of 800 pixels wide, so you can see more information without distracting clutter. While some users are still utilizing a screen resolution of 800x600 (around 2% of our visitors), we have noticed a large shift of the number of users surfing at much higher resolutions. This site should be full screen for all users utilizing 1024x768.
- Made the main background light instead of dark. We realize it's not as edgy, but it is easier to read.
- Speaking of easier to read, we made all the text much larger.
- Added a new menu which keeps the choices simple, until you decide to investigate an area of interest further. The new menu system also makes it much easier to add content.
- Added much more content and added links for new motorcycles. While ultimately you must visit Harley-Davidson's website for the full specifications (it's a Harley-Davidson Motor Company requirement), the general overview should get you much closer to knowing what you specifically want to see. We added what we could, the basics, colors and starting price as well as pictures.
- Added a new pre-owned module which allows for more photos (eventually) and full specifications for every bike made after 2004. It also allows us to add much more information about add-ons and upgrades.
- Added a payment search for pre-owned motorcycles. You can enter a payment and a down payment you can afford and it will sort our database and find the motorcycles that fit your budget and display those motorcycles only.
- Add forms for information requests, such as requesting a service appointment on-line. This will also include file upload capability to send us your photos of early Doc's memories for our 55th Anniversary page (completed 6/17/10). You will also be able to route your communications better to the appropriate member of Doc's staff.
- Add additional content that further enhances your riding experience, like links to national rallies and rides, complete with dates and details to make it easier for you to book your adventure.
- Add a community webpage calendar, which lists non-Doc's events for charity.
If you have an idea, we would love to hear from you. Please e-mail us at webmaster@docsharleydavidson.com. Please include your idea and whether or not we can contact you for further information. In addition, if you've seen the idea in practice somewhere else on the web, please include a link in your e-mail.
