WHY THE RIDE?

As many of you know, our hometown of Kirkwood recently suffered a tragedy in February 2008 involving the fatal shootings of 2 police officers, 3 council members and wounding the mayor at city hall. Our prayers are with all of the families affected by this senseless event.

A number of local businesses have had an opportunity for fundraisers to raise money for those injured and the family members of those who were killed and have done great things to help alleviate the financial burdens of those left behind.

Doc's was approached by our good friends at the Kirkwood PD (they have always been there for us) to administer a ride in honor of those who gave their lives in service to the Kirkwood Police Department, Sergeant William Biggs, Officer Thomas Ballman and Sergeant William McEntee (killed in service in an unrelated incident, July 2005). The organization known as Backstoppers has been a recipient of monies raised from previous charity events at many local motorcycle dealers and organizations and we wished to continue that relationship with this ride.

CAN I STILL PARTICIPATE IF I DON'T RIDE?

Sure, after the ride, Doc's will host a number of area restaurants (see below) for great food and drink as well as provide music until the event ends at 3pm. All net proceeds from food and beverages will also benefit Backstoppers.
